This week I’ve been reading Jon Reiss’ book Think Outside the Box Office, which producer and friend Sergei Krasikau recommended to me. Sergei and I are trying to come up with an innovative marketing and distribution plan for our documentary “Toxic Soup,” which was named an official selection of the 2010 Film Festival (April 15-23rd).

From what I’ve read so far the key to spreading the word out about “Toxic Soup” is simple: Schedule as many screenings as possible.

What I Learned – Distribution, Part 2

In the book “Think Outside the Box Office” by John Reiss is an entire section I have been ignoring: ”Sanity and the Future”. The first chapter is: “Keeping Sane”. Last night I took that chapter to bed with me and as I read it I must have had a hundred ”AHA” moments. As in: ”Wow, I’m not the only one who feels like she’s working into a black abyss of self-distribution” – it was like reading confessions of a “DIY-Distributor’s Anonymous” meeting. – DIYDA.

‘Children of Invention’ and ‘White on Rice’ DVD Giveaway Contest

DVD GIVEAWAY CONTEST to celebrate CHILDREN OF INVENTION and WHITE ON RICE March 12 premiere in NYC. CHILDREN OF INVENTION premieres in L.A. on 3/12 as well.

The contest will present one trivia question per day through 3/12, the day of the premiere. There are 8 questions in all — 4 about COI, 4 about WOR.
